Yoga is a non-competitive, non-judgmental form of mind/body exercise. Yoga works to develop strength, cultivate flexibility, tone muscles, improve balance, and perfect coordination. Yoga eliminates wastes and toxins from the body. Yoga also reduces stress and tension by soothing the central nervous system.
Yoga is totally subjective because everyone's body is different; therefore, we honor the body and let go of the ego mind by concentrating on positive, harmonious thoughts. When we can learn to accept the body and lovingly respect it, the body will blossom like a flower, opening one petal at a time.
At Sundance Yoga Studio we use positive, supportive mental attitudes during our practice. We open ourselves to experience and express love, peacefulness and vibrant health in every posture.
I hope that you will make the choice of health and join us in our journey of personal growth.
Namasté (The light in me honors the light in you)
Vinyasa yoga, also referred to as flow yoga, is a practice in which movements and asanas (poses) are synchronized with the breath. At Sundance Yoga Studio, our vinyasa yoga classes consist of upward movements that are performed while inhaling and downward movements that are performed while exhaling.
In this class we honor the principles of Yin; come into the pose to an appropriate depth, resolve to remain still and hold the pose for some time. Yin focuses on a release of connective tissues and cultivation of observance, pranayama and meditation as we surrender into longer held postures and open ourselves to the release of deeply held, stagnant energy.
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that provides deep relaxation, calms the nervous system and releases negative thought patterns and emotions. This practice helps us to develop an inner sanctuary of well-being and equanimity that serves as a base from which we are more able to calmly respond to the circumstances of our daily life.
The Gentle Yoga class is a combination of gentle body movements, breathing, and relaxation techniques that create physical and mental well-being. The tempo of this class is slow and soothing to invite an experience of strength and rejuvenation to each student.
