Valerie Immore, E-RYT 500, IAYT, TIYT, is the owner of Sundance Yoga Studios in Pearland and Friendswood, Tx. She is a Certified registered Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) She has been with Sundance and the Anusara community since 2001. Valerie’s journey has always been one of health and fitness and she has a strong background in many facets of the health industry beginning as early as 1985. As soon as she found Yoga, it became her heart’s ambition to teach it and enhance the lives of others with this practice as much as yoga has blessed her own life. Her passion in yoga is yoga therapy and partner yoga. She has over 1500 hours of yoga and therapy training. Her training has come from several different styles of vinyasa yoga but primarily from Anusara Yoga. Her unique style is a blend of the principles of alignment from Anusara and the dance of body and breath in vinyasa, complimented by teaching from a place of intuition and deep understanding of the biomechanics of the body. Valerie is a teacher trainer at the 200 hr and 500 hr level and has taught in Principle Based Partner Yoga teacher certification courses.

  • John Bethscheider – Instructor E-RYT 500

John came to Sundance Yoga in 2005. Having competed in competitive tennis, racquetball, running, cycling, and back-packing, his body was in need of healing. Yoga provided the needed recovery and healing from years of overuse injuries. As an avid cyclist he discovered that yoga improved his balance, breathing and strength on the bicycle. Taking his yoga practice to the next level, with Valerie’s encouragement, he completed the teachers training at Sundance. In the fall of 2008 he began teaching yoga to employees at Alvin Community College. The program became an immediate success and is offered to beginning and intermediate students. John’s philosophy of yoga is to teach not only the universal principles of alignment, but to instill in each student an appreciation of the culture and history of yoga and to practice yoga not only on the mat but in their daily lives. He encourages his students to recognize that their physical yoga practice, when engaging the breath, can lead to self-awareness and change. A sense of humor and a desire to create a peaceful atmosphere guide his instructional method. He retired as Provost and Dean of Instruction at Alvin Community College in 2019.

  • Deborah Beard – Instructor RYT 200

Deborah (Deb) originally registered for Yoga classes in 2002, thinking of Yoga as exercise. That quickly changed when she realized in addition to gaining core strength, better balance and flexibility, she was feeling more grounded mentally, leaving behind the judgmental mindset she was raised with. Deb was physically opening her chest for better posture while spiritually opening her heart to mindfully living in the present. Deb’s goal is to offer a calming, caring, safe learning experience accessible to all those interested in improving their physical and mental health. While teaching students to recognize the physical symptoms of carrying stress in their bodies, emphasis is on recognizing the power of connecting to the Breath to help release stress and mindfully live in the present.

‘Psychic Income’ is one of Deb’s favorite expressions for the fulfilling, satisfying feeling she has when students tell her they are feeling better after Gentle Yoga.
